At first glance, that little inner zipped pocket in every Malden binder doesn't seem all that useful. Since there is one there, though, I put my mind to some uses you could put it to beyond just storing loose change. Here are the ideas I came up with.
- A highlighter pen or pencil
- Postage stamps
- A mini first aid kit (band aids, antiseptic wipes, cotton buds)
- Emergency cufflinks and brass collar stiffeners
- A spare house or car key
- Earbud phones
- Fountain pen ink cartridges
- Spare pencil leads and erasers
- A nail file
- A USB stick or SD/Flash card

Nothing yet - I keep telling myself I should carry useful stuff around, but I am not very good at that kind of thing :o)
I keep change, but I obviously should have gone for the cufflinks after an unfortunate incident solved with Treasury tags...

That pocket is a Tardis!
I keep change in there when using my filo occasionally as a wallet & find it holds a surprising amount. Just peeked in now & there's sticky index tabs, an ink cartridge & a cable tie.
Huh. When my Malden was my main Filo, I didn't keep anything in there (still don't), mainly because I didn't know what to keep in there. Plus, whatever I might keep in there had to allow for writing ease - nothing bumpy. But these are some great ideas - thanks!

i also thought about how to use this pocket, when i was deciding between the holborn and the malden. I think it´s very usefull for color-coders to keep several pens in there.

Is keeping ink cartridges in there not a bit risky, especially if it's often full and you put ANY pressure on it when writing... i'm sure a burst ink cartridge would ruin it!
I've never experienced a burst cartridge. They make these things with pretty thick and sturdy plastic; I'd be surprised to see one fail.
I used to end up with a new pencil case every couple of weeks due to them at school!
maybe they just don't handle being in a bag with textbooks very well
