Hello Ray, excellent video! Took away a few great top tips from it, and laughed out loud at the end when you spoke about you doing all the work and the Filofax not doing anything. The way you said it really summed up using a Filofax -if you use it, it will work for you, if you don't then 'it doesn't do anything' :)) lovely stuff! Look forward to more. Barry. P.S. Thanks for the mention.

You're welcome. I'm a firm believer that planners don't fail - people do.

THOUROUGHLY enjoyed that, thanks!!

Do you ever find airport security having a problem with the metal ring mechanism, when you take the binder on as hand-luggage? I haven't ever travelled with a binder, but I might be doing some travelling next year that will need my Fax to come along, and it would worry me a bit to get turned away at the last minute...

I was debating getting it weighed and taking a self-addressed envelope, big padded type, with me in case it got refused, so I'd be grateful to hear your experiences?

I do think airport rules are ridiculous, throwing all the supposedly dangerous liquids into one big bin, and refusing you entry with nail clippers while allowing glass bottles aboard... but that's a topic for another place! Suffice to say that's why the issue of reactions to the metal mechanism confused me, because the rules, while well-meaning, are not consistant regarding things that could be used as weapons - metal handles on those small walk-on trolleys, for example, which could easily be hacked... the list goes on!

I've never had a problem carrying Filofaxes in hand baggage, and I've travelled with them quite widely.

The thing that most annoys me about airport rules (and the full list of what annoys me is long) is that all the rules are based on what the bad guys have done before, not what they might do in future. No-one seems capable of bolting the door *before* the horse escapes.

Very true! I have a pair of nail clippers right here on my desk... 2 inches long, cutting edge of 3/4 inch, and only about as sharp as my teeth. I think anyone who can successfully hijack a plane with JUST a set of those, deserves it!

But seriously, thanks for that, you've set my mind at ease, apreciate it!

Shanti,

I travel every week in the Middle East, and my Filofax goes everywhere as hand luggage, in fact its in my hand the whole time, as I always use it in the flight. Plus, i tuck my Passport and boarding card and frequent flyer and eGate card in it, so everything is in one place. (Now I know where Ray got his title - it really is my life, all in one place!).

And the most astonishing thing I find ? They confiscate nail clippers, tweezers (what do they thinki, someone will pluck the Captain's eyebrows out till he gives in?) and other such paraphanalia at the X-ray desk, then they let you buy them all over again in duty free. Truly bizarre.

But the bottom line is, You shouldn't have a problem with your filofax.

Thanks Paul - that's set my mind at ease no end to hear from you both!

The whole thing is ridiculous, but, if you don't get problems on that kind of route, then Europe should be fine.

Thanks!!!

Hi. I like the idea of having a monthly planner for looking at the next month and reviewing the previous month. Do you have that template available for download or edit/adapt? or a photo for a closer look? Self rating is a good idea too!!

Thanks
